Shuggie Otis, José James and Hiatus Kaiyote are set to play a free show on August 11th at Summer Stage. The show presented by Giant Step combines the talents of musical innovators across generations to present a master class in good music. The Summer Stage performance was put together to showcase Giant Step's rich musical heritage.
DJ OP! will hit the stage ahead of the main acts to warm the crowd up with an eclectic blend of tunes. The performance in Central Park follows Otis' fairly recent release of Inspiration Information/Wings Of Love - a collection of classic, new and unreleased material from the reclusive funk pioneer. Jose James and Hiatus Kaiyote are both extensions of the style Otis helped to found, though their sounds are distinctly unique and representative of all of the musical traditions associated with Giant Step.
