News footage from Rochester, New York went viral over the weekend in a home invasion gone wrong. Willie Murphy, an 82-year-old award-winning bodybuilder, thwarted an intruder, armed with only household items.
According to Murphy, it all started around 11 p.m. on Thursday night when she heard a voice at her doorstep. She overheard a man complaining outside. "He was outside saying, 'Please call an ambulance,' saying, 'I'm sick, I'm sick."
The ambulance would eventually come, though not for the reason he may have intended.
She contacted the police, denying him entry to her home. He then broke the door down, which led Murphy to defend herself. "I took that table and I went to working on him," she said. "The table broke. And when he's down," she said, "I'm jumping on him."
She didn't stop there. "I grabbed the shampoo," she said. "Guess what? He’s still on the ground. In his face, all of it, the whole thing." It wasn't over for this guy just yet. "I got the broom, he's pulling the broom. I'm hitting him with the broom."
WHAM 13 News, a Rochester-based outlet, reported the story. Check out its news brief below.
