Rage Against The Machine Is Counting Down To...Something That May Involve Public Enemy
Last night Rage Against The Machine sent up a sign of life, going live with the cryptic countdown website prophetsofrage.com, which featured a clock that runs up to June 1st. The site requests users submit their email addresses, after which they are directed to an image that boasts a very Rage emblem and the line "“Clear the way for the prophets of rage,” which is lifted from a 1988 Public Enemy track of the same name, and the declaration "The Party's Over Summer 2016." There's also #TakeBackThePower, which is a reference to one of the band's earlier cuts. All of which is to say that Rage Against The Machine appears to be counting down to something big that just may include their politically-sharp forefathers, but we can't be sure just what that is until the clock hits 6/1. Are we on the verge of a RATM reunion tour with PE in the supporting slot? A collaborative album? Your guess is as good as ours, but we'll certainly be keeping our eyes on the matter as we creep closer to June 1st. Until then, grit your teeth and be patient. Whatever they're cooking up will be well worth the wait.
