The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program Celebrates It's 30th Anniversary With A Very Special Fete Featuring Shepard Fairey & Others At The Wall Ball 2014.

The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program celebrates its 30th anniversary with an epic fête planned for the 10th annual Wall Ball gala fundraiser on May 29th. The event for the nation's oldest mural program and the awesome crew behind the recent mural honoring The Roots raises funds to continue to create "powerful and engaging public art projects that transform public spaces, communities, and individual lives." Mural Arts founder and Executive Director Jane Golden discussed the program's history and upcoming plans ahead of the festivities:

“We are delighted to celebrate 30 years of this amazing program with the 10th annual Wall Ball!” says Mural Arts Executive Director and founder Jane Golden. “Since our first Wall Ball in 2005, this event has helped us continue to unite artists and communities together to create art rooted in the traditions of mural-making that transforms public spaces and individual’s lives. We recently launched two new trolley tours, “Philadelphia’s Reimagined Landscapes” and “America’s First Highway” and two new walking tours, “Mural Mile North” and “Mural Mile South” providing insight into the art and history of the city which is made possible by the artists supported by this wonderful event.”

Amping things up, the Wall Ball 2014 Off The Wall Ball after-party features the legendary DJ Cosmo Baker and 2014 honoree Shepard Fairey rocking what promises to be an awesome post-gala event that keeps the fundraiser going into the wee hours for the Young Friends Collective of the Mural Arts Program:

At 9:30 p.m., guests of the Young Friends party will be treated to special performances by Philadelphia native DJ Cosmo Baker, and Shepard Fairey, who will also DJ a set. The Young Friends will keep the party going at Union Transfer until midnight.
