Marla Joy- "Getting By"

It was just a month ago that we showed you what Toronto songbird Marla Joy was capable of when she dropped her single "Getting By" on us, but now we've got some visuals to compliment the powerful vocals that she so nonchalantly belts out. We've compared her to Aretha Franklin for those raucous vocal chords of hers, but it seems more apt to go the Estelle or even Janis Joplin route with this young lady. There's some hard blues here, but nothing the strong-armed voice of Miss Joy can't crack through, which is probably why she's shared the stage with the likes Mary J. Blige and Citizen Cope, not to mention getting tapped to perform with and open for the great purple sage, Prince. Her Syience produced EP Perfectly Flawed is due out in early 2014, but in the meantime you can catch Marla Joy run through rehearsals with her band in the black and white visual treatment for "Getting By" below. We'll have more on the Canadian chanteuse soon.
