A Starstruck Tyler The Creator Interviews Pharrell At Camp Flog Gnaw

Tyler The Creator looked a little spooked in a video interview that he conducted with longtime hero Pharrell after he took the stage at TTC's namesake festival Camp Flog Gnaw this past weekend. An uncharacteristically wide-eyed windless Tyler fumbles with the mic and his speech as he bears witness to a gushing P, praising his torchbearer's endless pursuit of the weird and uncharted, comparing their meeting on stage to something he once aspired to, but never obtained with Q-Tip

You may recall earlier in the week when a video surfaced of a teary-eyed Tyler nearly collapsing with joy from the sight of P and the entirety of The Neptunes crew rocking an N.E.R.D. set for the massive crowd. Well, this is the culminating moment of that collision of artistry, where student and teacher become one in the same and merely shower one another with adoration. You can watch Tyler The Creator pick the mind of Pharrell for Mass Appeal and read a glowing quote from the hit-maker below.

“For me, to have these moments…the stories you used to tell me about listening to our albums, and then to see you have a show and we’re out there performing and it’s your show: that means more to me than it does to you…because I would have died to have that with Q-Tip. Died. But we never did that, and you’re a different generation. I love that this generation has its anchor: that’s Odd Future. So I’m not worried about…we’ve got a lot of help now; it’s not just us…. As long as you stay where you are and stay loyal to your beliefs, and secondly your curiosity, no one can touch you.”
