The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin has had a bit of a hiatus from the music scene after some complications with an undisclosed illness that caused her to cancel some shows and postpone the production of a new album, but the songstress is back at it and apparently in full force. After Danger Mouse was forced to move on to producing the next U2 album as result of the scheduling complications, the true diva is working with some of the biggest hitters in the industry, allegedly recruiting Babyface and Blue Note's head honcho Don Was to help produce the album and engage the pop market for the first time in decades.
A swift kick in the butt from none other than Clive Davis is all it took to get the singer out of bed after a summer of recovery, the very same individual who propelled her to the top of the pops 30 years back.
"Mr. Davis said he doesn't just want another CD," she said. "He wants a blockbuster event."
With a support team behind her that is responsible for the proliferation of countless careers and a new focus on getting her voice back to where it was prior to her ailment, Aretha's geared to make an epic return this year. So lets hope that the royalty of her voice recovers and matches the immeasurable royalty of her influence in R&B and abroad.
