Maggie Rogers, Artist That Nearly Brought Pharrell To Tears, Shares Gorgeous Single "Alaska"
Perhaps some you recall a clip from a few months back that found Pharrell and engineering legend, Bob Power, lending an ear to some of NYU's most promising musicians, offering them feedback and mixing notes for them to consider. That masterclass session brought attention to some aspiring young talent, but perhaps most notably, introduced the world to the voice and unique pop-leanings of Maggie Rogers, whose demo of the track "Alaska" nearly brought Skateboard P to tears during their session. Excerpts from said session have since gone viral, and rightfully so, as Rogers' vocal trills and staggering command for pop structure and harmony simply sucked people in.
Today, we're happy to say, that "Alaska" is finally finished and available to stream in its entirety as the debut single from Maggie Rogers' forthcoming EP, which is said to be arriving later this year. Go ahead and give it a run down below and find out what all the fuss is about. After your first listen (of which we're sure there will be plenty) we feel confident you'll hear precisely what had Pharrell's face all screwed up.
