Janelle Monae's younger self as portrayed in Goodie Mob - Special Education (official video)
Two goodies from Goodie Mob today. First, of course, Janelle Monáe and a bunch of cute badass little kids bless the Mob's official video for the much-teased "Special Education." Janelle cameo aside, this 2013 Goodie is not really taking me to "Cell Therapy" heights, personally, but if the narrative in the video gives the youth of today license to be themselves and bust through the culture of conformity--and hopefully grow into the next set of weirdos to change the world (that's the message of the song, far as I can tell) then I'm all about it.
The other big Mob-related story of the day is this full stream (and download) of their live set in Portugal, which kicked off Cee Lo Green's headlining appearance at Festival Sudoeste. The Mob set it off with a lot of energy and Cee Lo's half-serious attempt at Portuguese before diving into "Get Rich To This"; "Soul Food"; "They Don't Dance No Mo" and, of course, "Special Education" sans Janelle Monáe (although her hook is there in robotic essence on the playback machine).
