Freddie Gibbs Gets Cozy With Snakes In His New Video For "Pronto"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Let's cut to the chase: snakes. Slithering through almost every scene in Freddie Gibbs's brand new video for "Pronto" is a scaly, menacing animal. The clip features Gibbs relaxing in a bath tub full of them, spitting verses with his own venomous intensity. It only takes a few seconds to understand the meaning behind it all: Freddie Gibbs is so focused, so dangerous and so skilled that he's able to rest at ease even as danger surrounds him. Those snakes, in fact, are the ones that should be afraid.

"Pronto" arrived last month as the lead-off and title track of Gibbs's latest EP, and the new video brings its dark and fearsome demeanor into the visual realm in a powerful way. Directed by Nick Walker, the clip manages to capture the Gary, Indiana MC in a nutshell--Gibbs lives surrounded by women, expensive things and the possibility of danger, and yet he's in every moment cool and confident about it.

The man seems incapable of slowing down. We last heard Freddie link with Curren$y for the cooled-ou cut "Fetti," on just before that the thug-inclined rapper linked with Kaytranada on "My Dope House." But Gibbs's solo work most definitely stands on its own merits, and the Pronto EP is still garnering heavy rotation at the OKP offices. Watch his brand new clip below and be on the lookout for more.
