Kanye Extends an Olive Branch to Drake Under The Strict Supervision of J Prince

J Prince is brokering another peace deal between rivaling rappers.

Kanye West is ready to most past a very long and very public quarrel with Drake. The rare moment of humility appears to have been sparked by a chat with Houston rap icon, J Prince, who hovered over West in a truce-calling hostage video Monday night.

Posted by the Rap-A-Lot Records chief, the clip is a real change of tone for West. Just days after claiming his rival was openly waging psychological war with him in an unhinged interview on N.O.R.E and DJ EFN's Drink Champs podcast, the controversial Chicago rapper-turned-sneaker-mogul was not nearly as brazen with his words reading from his Notes app alongside Prince. "I’m making this video to address the ongoing back and forth between myself and Drake. Both me and Drake have taken shots at each other and it’s time to put it to rest," West says in the video as Prince supervises and silently looks on at the camera. West goes on to invite Drake to perform with him in Los Angeles on December 7th as a way of bringing attention to the case of Larry Hoover, who is currently serving out six life sentences in association with a 1973 murder in Chicago. "I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause, but prove to people – everywhere – how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride to the side and come together," West concludes.

In a series of contextualizing tweets, J Prince explained how his initial meeting with Kanye was productive despite being unexpected. I met with @kanyewest [last] night in Htown at the Rothko Chapel. It wasn’t in my plans to meet him there but I must say I’m glad I didn’t allow a worship place for God to detour our meeting," Prince writes. "There will come a time in life where we all should embrace the movement thinking, over the moment thinking. Moment thinking gets us stuck in the cycle of confusion, revenge, killings, and things of darkness that take you to a place worse than slavery," Prince adds.

Drake has yet to respond, but it's not the first time Prince has gone to bat for the Toronto rap star. Back in 2018, J Prince had some words for Pusha T when he was in Kanye's place, threatening to "squash him like an ant." Suppose we'll have to wait and see how this plays out.
