Questlove Is Releasing His Debut Children’s Book
Co-authored with award-winning author S.A. Crosby, Questlove is releasing his debut children’s book The Rhythm of Time this month.
Prepare your kids. Next Tuesday (April 18), Oscar-winning filmmaker and founding The Roots member Questlove will be releasing his debut children’s book The Rhythm of Time. Co-authored with New York Times bestselling and award-winning author S.A. Crosby, The Rhythm of Time follows two Philadelphia kids Kasia and Rahim, “two slightly-nerdy Black teens, as they travel back through time, inadvertently rewriting the future.”
“Rich with pop-culture references but rooted in its portrait of its two unlikely heroes, The Rhythm of Time is a fast-paced story of how the best of intentions can unravel into the most dire of circumstances—and how those problems can only be solved through the power of family and friendship,” the synopsis continues. The Rhythm of Time will be released via Penguin Random House.
Geared for readers ages 8-12, The Rhythm of Time marks Questlove’s fifth book overall, following 2013’s Mo' Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove and Soul Train: The Music, Dance, and Style of a Generation, 2016’s Something To Food About: Exploring Creativity with Innovative Chefs and more. Last month, the 52-year-old, legal name Ahmir Thompson, announced his new publishing imprint AUWA Books, which will release upcoming Sly Stone memoirThank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).
“I have been writing books for over a decade, so it seemed like a natural step to publish them too,” Questlove said in a statement about his new imprint. “I’m very excited about AUWA Books, from the books we have lined up to the books we haven’t discovered yet. Let’s take it to the page.”
