Pretty Lights x Talib Kweli - "Around The Block" Live on Conan

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Pretty Lights, the electronic-soul alias of Derek Vincent Smith, took to Conan to perform "Around The Block" with assistance from a large band that included Talib Kweli, brooklyn duo Break Science, and Soulive guitarist Eric Kranso. The track comes from his recently released new album entitled A Color Map Of the Sun. As in his past material, he found brilliant ways to cook up a blend of hip-hop, soul, and electronica. The fiery performance serves as a preview to PL's forthcoming tour, which is his first backed by a live band. Talib spits a verse and serves as a hypeman while Pretty Lights leads the band through some bass heavy good-time funk. Continuing his trend of making all of his records available for free, the new album can be downloaded via www.prettylightsmusic.com as well as purchased via iTunes or as two physical CD's. Check out PL's tour dates and watch the footage below.
