Shkreli claims that the post was a joke, calling it an awkward attempt at humor or satire." Brooklyn federal court judge Kiyo Matsumoto did not find the post funny. She revoked his $5 million bond and locked him up again. calling him a danger to society in the process. (Shkreli was free on $5 million bond while awaiting sentencing for a fraud conviction.)

During the hearing, Matsumoto gave Shkreli a mouthful, saying:

One ongoing concern of mine is that he has been touted as a brilliant young man, the mind of his generation, yet he lacks the ability to understand whats appropriate.

The post Matsumoto was talking about came on September 4th, when Shkreli wrote a message to his 94,000 followers, saying:

On HRCs book tour, try and grab a hair from her...I must confirm the sequences I have. Will pay $5,000 per hair obtained from Hillary Clinton.

That post and others were scrubbed from his page after he was contacted by the secret service.

Matsumoto threw Shkreli in jail despite the fact that he wrote a letter asking the judge for mercy, saying that he never meant to threaten Clinton.

Matsumoto was not convinced.
