Recent newcomer to Hollywood, Stephan James, goes for gold in the stunning trailer for the forthcoming Jesse Owens biopic RACE, which opens February 19th.
The film chronicles legendary track and field star Jesse Owens' journey to overcome adversity and eventually win four gold medals at the 1936 Summer Olympic Games in Berlin. His place in history is extremely interesting in that he went against those critical of his skin color to strike a stunning blow to the premise of Aryan supremacy propagated by Adolf Hitler.
RACE is expected to provide a major career boost for James, who portrayed Civil Rights activist John Lewis in Ava DuVernay's critically acclaimed film Selma. In RACE, James stars in the lead alongside Jason Sudeikis and Jeremy Irons and looks like it will be courting some Oscar nods from the Academy.
