Mark Ronson Brings The Drum-Machine Funk To Ibeyi's "Stranger/Lover"

Gotta say, it's been a pleasure to see the sisters Diaz BKA Ibeyi blossom over the years. From their critically-adored debut to rocking with us at SXSW last year to gracing Summerstage with Ibeyi has been (and may continue to be) the gift that keeps on giving.

But we'd be fools to assume that our ears are the only ones caught up in their booming blends of Yoruban melodies, electronic rhythms and hip-hop-inflected braggadocio. The XL Recordings duo has been making waves in all of the ponds and one Mark Ronson seems to have taken a liking. So much so that he's provided us with a very slick and strut-worthy remix to their album cut "Stranger/Lover," injecting the off-kilter head-nodder with a bit of his electric brilliance and transforming it into a drum-machine funk spectacle a la Zapp & Roger's "More Bounce To The Ounce" or even "Dance Floor," six-strings slaps and effected vocal trills intact.
