Chaka Khan And Her Sister Checked Into Rehab This Week, Refusing To Suffer Like Prince

“The tragic death of Prince has had us both rethinking and reevaluating our lives"

It's been nearly three months since Prince passed and left us with more questions than answers to sort through. Eventually we'd learn that The Purple One's tragic demise was due to an opioid overdose of the painkiller Fentanyl, which he had presumably been using to treat hip pain for some time. Just how Prince received the dangerously addictive script has yet to be determined (and is the subject of a federal investigation) but it appears his death has at least inspired others to seek treatment for their own addictions.

This past weekend former collaborator and longtime friend, Chaka Khancancelled a string of tour dates to check herself into a rehabilitation program along with her sister, Yvonne Stevens (AKA Taka Boom,) explaining to The Associated Press that she suffered from an addiction to the very same substance that claimed the life of her dear friend. She went on to say, "We knew it was time to take action to save our lives. My sister and I would like to thank everyone for their support, love and prayers." We pray Chaka and all of those who may be plagued by addiction find the help they need.
