Watch 3/4 Of ATCQ Discuss Their Future On Hot 97: "I Think It's Ridiculous That We're Not Touring"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

"Yo where's Tip??"

Those first words, shouted by Ebro, comprise the first real sentence of A Tribe Called Quest's Thursday morning appearance on Hot 97. The Abstract one was glaringly absent from the hip-hop summit, while Jarobi White, Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad all sat alert and ready to dish on the re-release of People's Instinctive Travels, their upcoming Tonight Show reunion performance and more. Things get heady real quick, with Shaheed discussing the difference between modern track-based trap productions and their 1990-era loop and sample constructions. Of course, Jarobi gets his chance to discuss the dashiki-era fashion. "We came in the middle of an afro-centric movement, and we just wanted to show that," White says, smirking, before diming out Phife for not being quite so down with the style.

"We're all doing different things, and at the same time it is a business. But I think it's ridiculous that we're not touring," Phife says, to which the room falls dead silent for a long, heavy second. Ebro raises a fair point: "The bar and the expectation is so high," but in the end we're left right back where we've been for all these years: wondering why it is these guys can't square their issues, squash beef, and get back out there.

In a second clip, things lighten a bit as the Hot 97 crew plays their patented "One Gotta Go" game with Jarobi, Phife and Ali. They make it a doozy, pressing the trio to pick between "Bonita Applebum," "Can I Kick It?" "Electric Relaxation," or "Scenario,"--one of which would have to be given up forever. The answers may surprise you, and they'll certainly entertain. Today is also the last day to pre-order the 25th Anniversary edition of People's Instinctive Travels... but the tried-and-true classic vinyl version is still available in the OKP Shop. Watch both video segments below and get ready--tomorrow night is going to be a ball.
