Stretch and Bobbito Remix and Remaster Classic Jay-Z, Big L Freestyles

The release coincides with a newly-launched Stretch and Bobbito show.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show, the pair has reunited for a new show on Apple Music. In honor of the premiere, they shared Freestyle EP 1, an EP featuring 89tec9 remixes of classic freestyles from the Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Big L, Method Man and Ghostface Killah. The remixes were remastered from cassette recordings, and produced in collaboration with the M19s band. Stream the full EP below.

"I hope that listeners feel the era," Bobbito said. "The excitement. The focus. The craftmanship at hand by the MCs. I also hope that for our diehard followers who have heard these a million times since the Nineties, that our remixes bring new life to them. No one in their right mind could have imagined that a cappella versions of archival live moments in hip hop could be created, but we did it. And then flipped it. So enjoy to the fullest.

The first EP features Biggie's radio debut from the show back in 1992, Method Man and Ghostface's appearance in 1994, and Big L and Jay-Z in 1995. Stretch and Bobbito are also looking for input from fans, be it a shoutout, radio drop, or story related to the show. Listeners are encouraged to email voice notes to the show.

Freestyle EP 1 is the first in a series of three EPs to be released from the two. After the three projects, Stretch and Bobbito will release a full-length project at some point next year. Stay tuned for further updates about the new show.
