Ice Cube Says Script For New 'Friday' Film Is Finished
And he hopes to release it on the 25th anniversary of the original film.
After hinting at the next installment of his Friday franchise in a recent tweet, Ice Cube has offered some updates in his forthcoming new Friday movie.
The entertainer served as a guest on ESPN’s The Jump recently and, during his appearance, was asked about the status of the new Friday film, tentatively titled Last Friday.

“Yeah, we pushing for it,” he said. “We finished the script, we are getting notes from the studio and it’s going back and forth. Get into pre-production and start hiring. It would be nice for this to come out on the 25th anniversary. That would be kinda…good.”
The original movie came out on April 26, 1995.
Cube had teased the new film in a tweet last month acknowledging the 24th anniversary of Friday.

“To the 24 years that have flown since this came out, all I gotta say is…BYE, FELICIA. Do you want the next chapter??” he tweeted.
Previously, John Witherspoon said that Cube had gotten the green light to make another Friday movie.
“I was at the airport and I saw Ice Cube. Cube said they gonna do another Friday. He said he wants to meet with me last week–this week, but he couldn’t make it, but we’re going to meet next week to get things together…there’s a new guy at Warner Bros. Thank God!” Witherspoon said during an appearance at The Power 95.3’s GetUpCrew in Orlando.
There have been three Friday movies. However, the last one, Friday After Next, came out in 2002. If Cube actually gets the next Friday film ready by 2020, it’ll be 18 years since the last film in the franchise came out.
