Following a fairly low-key stretch, the arrival of new projects from Syd, Leikeli47, Princess Nokia and Mount Kimbie offered us album cuts galore. Loosies and lead-off singles from Amp Fiddler, Cuz Lightyear, SZA, Statik Selektah and TOKIMONSTA perforated the week with fine frequencies and crucial collaborations with legends like Killer Mike, Mtume and the late J Dilla. HBO's hit series, Insecure, offered up a fistful of ear candy in the stellar soundtrack to its sophomore season.
