Snarky Puppy delivers a massive soul jam with "Gone Under" - the hard driving horn-heavy chant that leads their forthcoming compilation Family Dinner, Volume 1 - featuring Shayna Steele via Ropeadope. The project recorded live before an intimate audience features a handful of powerhouse vocalists including Steele, N'Dambi, Lalah Hathaway, Lucy Woodward and more covering a mix of r&b, gospel and soul. The tracks on the project are slated to be released as singles, highlighting the variety of sounds and genres on the album with videos dropping weekly; the first clip is scheduled to arrive on September 9th. The Family Dinner LP will be available for presale on 8-track CD or 15-track DVD on August 29th. Sales of the Family Dinner CD and DVD will benefit the Music Lab at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke Virginia, where the project was recorded. Snarky Puppy's Michael League wanted to record a series of performances that would bring attention to the non-profit's mission of neighborhood revitalization and arts education.
