MK Asante & King Mez Deliver Power To Baltimore's "Young Bucks" In A Gripping New Video
A few weeks back, Philly-bred, Baltimore-housed MC MK Asante hit us with a heavy dose of poignancy in his latest single "Young Bucks" featuring Raleigh's King Mez. For those that heard the word when it dropped back in early-May, this soulful and uplifting number is aimed directly at the hearts of our youth, who have come under fire over the past month for their involvement in burning the still-simmering corner of Pennsylvania and North Avenues in Charm City's west side. And though some would rather turn the page on the city's moment in the media, Asante comes through with a clip that's filmed right in the heart of the city's unrest, painted against the backdrop of a militarized police force, needlessly surveilling a peaceful protest. It's a keen and insightful eye into a moment that the media painted as "thugs" and "gangsters" simply doing what they do. And I for one thank Asante for bringing some of the less propagated images of Bmore to light. You can watch MK Asante and King Mez stand with Baltimore in the video for "Young Bucks" below, just be sure to put your ears to his BUCK: ORIGINAL BOOK SOUNDTRACK today, if you've yet to do so.
