The Atlanta stop of Beyoncé and Jay-Z's On The Run II Tour at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium came to a startling conclusion after a man rushed the stage and made contact with Jay-Z.
The intoxicated fan, 26-year-old Anthony Charles Thomas Maxwell ran on stage. and made contact with Jay-Z, and attempted to follow the artists backstage as the concert was ending Saturday night. Police say Maxwell was quickly stopped by security people and backup dancers. Fan videos online show dancers rushing to the back of the stage, appearing to chase after the man.
The man was initially issued a citation for disorderly conduct and released, but police have now charged him with simple battery and are reportedly looking to add more charges.
He was treated for minor injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
