Video: Flying Lotus - Until The Quiet Comes [Short Film]

In a word: whoah. The abstract and cosmic tones of Flying Lotus' catalog don't necessarily suggest they should soundtrack a short film touching on violence and urban youth in South Central Los Angeles. But this cinematic micro-opus from Kahlil Joseph--titled Until The Quiet Comes and built as a companion to the forthcoming FlyLo LP of the same name--will drape your buster-ass suggestions up by the collar and make them dance jerkily to it's own haunting tune. Featuring the voice of Erykah Badu (see the full listing of FlyLo songs used in the film after the jump) and Brooklyn dancer Storyboard PUTQC creates an aesthetic that's somewhere between Alejandro Jodorowsky and David LaChapelle's krump-umentary Rize. Shot on lush 35mm in L.A.'s Nickerson Gardens projects, the film is a strikingly original work of art which deals--in it's own distinct language of psychomagic realism and West Coast freestyle dance--with some of the same themes as undun. Watch below (do yourself a favor and hit full-screen) and pre-order Until The Quiet Comes on iTunes.
