Eddie Murphy To Be Honored w/ Mark Twain Prize for American Humor By Some Of The Greats

To us, no matter how many vanilla reggae joints he drops, Eddie Murphy will always be a king. No matter how many 21st century duds this man throws his name into, he will always be cherished as one of the single most crucial components to what is today's comedic formula; a pioneer whose name belongs on the same tier as Pryor, Carlin, Bruce and the like. So when his name comes up as the recipient of comedy's most prestigious award, we here at OKP couldn't be more thrilled or less surprised.

Murphy will be the 2015 recipient of the Mark Twain Prize For American Humor, celebrating his influence and legacy as one of the best to ever do it. Past honorees include a few of the names I mentioned already as well as Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and the gamut of rib-tickling brains that have made us smile over the years. What's more the proceedings will be filmed on October 18th and televised on November 23rd via PBS. According to BillboardThe evening's performers will include Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Kathy Griffin, Trevor Noah and plenty more. So one time for the genius that is Eddie Murphy. Here's hoping for a return to the stage in this decade or the next. Either way, we'll be waiting.
