It's been a little over four years since anyone saw Butterfly, Doodlebug and Ladybug Mecca before known as Digable Planets in one place, at one time. Following their original parting of ways back in 1995, the trio has released one compilation record in 2005's Beyond the Spectrum: The Creamy Spy Chronicles and since then, have worked on their own respective projects, with Butterfly going on to form the genre-killing group Shabazz Palaces alongside Tendai "Baba" Maraire.
But the years have been long without the "Rebirth Of Cool" architects, and while their last attempt at a reunion fell through in 2012, the unanimously adored Golden Age trio appears to be giving it another run. On December 30th and 31st, Digable Planets will be getting the band back together, playing two consecutive nights at Seattle's Neptune Theater for what will surely be a packed and anxious crowd, who will also be blessed by a performance from Shabazz Palaces.
Let's hope this time it sticks.
