Fight For Your Favorite '90s MC With This New Rap Card Game
If you ever played Top Trumps as a child and have an outspoken love for rap music that you often find yourself debating rappers with your friends, then this is probably something you will want to own.
Rapper Trumps brings both the classic card game and '90s rap artists together, as friends can compete against one another on a number of different categories (similar to the original game). Those categories include: Lyrical Ability, Impact, Criminality and Bling. There's a wildcard section provided with each rapper, which is open to interpretation. For example, Biggie's wildcard is that he was once asked to work with Michael Jackson, while Tupac's is that he performed as a hologram at Coachella.
There are 32 rappers to choose from: Biggie, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Jay Z, Prodigy, Noreaga, Ice Cube, Nas — the list goes on and on. For some reason Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer are included (we probably speak for a handful of fellow rap heads when we say Ice and Hammer could have been omitted from the game, in favor of two other female rappers since only Lil' Kim and Lauryn Hill are featured) but maybe they actually serve some purpose in the game.
According to the Rapper Trumps website the game was "developed by three friends who argue about Hip Hop in the pub on a regular basis." But everything about the card game really does look cool. From the illustrations of each rapper to the descriptions that accompany them, this could very well be a successful endeavor (which would hopefully turn into a larger game where more and more rappers are added to the roster).
