Update: Sony & Marvel Have Made a Deal — The Two Companies Will Produce Upcoming Spider-Man Movie Together

Update: Spider-man is back in the MCU. Marvel and Sony have announced that the two companies have made up and will produce the upcoming Spider-man movie, the third in the Homecoming series, which is scheduled to be released on July 16th, 2021.

Spider-man will also appear in future Marvel movies. Tom Holland will also be back as the iconic superhero. The film is scheduled for release on July 16, 2021. In a statement Marvel super-producer Kevin Feige said:

I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it.

Well, this sucks.

Sony has ended its deal with Marvel, according to a new report from Deadline,

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige won't produce future Spider-man movies after failing to make a deal with Sony. According to Deadline, Disney wants future Spider-Man movies to have 50/50 financing agreement. Sony turned that down. (According to Deadline, under the current deal, Marvel and Disney receive around 5% of first dollar gross.)

What makes this tricky is that there are two Spider-Man movies in the works with star Tom Holland and director Jon Watts attached.
