Upcoming Mike Tyson Hulu-limited series is getting its first look. A trailer has released for the series, titled MIKE, following different stages of the boxing champion throughout his life, with actor Trevante Rhodes portraying him in adulthood. MIKE will cover Tyson's dark childhood and multiple run-ins with the law – including his tumultuous marriage with actress Robin Givens – along with his rise of becoming a boxing legend.
"Who am I?" Tyson asks himself in the trailer, breaking the fourth wall. "People just see an animal. They call me a savage. I'm the most vicious, ruthless champion there's ever been. No one can match me. My style’s impetuous. I’m ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat your children. Praise be to Allah.”
With the limited series created by screenwriter Steven Rogers (I, Tonya), Laura Harrier joins as Tyson's former wife Robin Givens, along with Li Eubanks (Desiree Washington) and Russell Hornsby (Don King).
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, MIKE showrunner Karen Gist said that the limited series is "meant to glorify his life."
"We were never trying to say that Mike Tyson is a hero or Mike Tyson is a villain," Gist said in June. "Our goal was to take a very complicated and controversial figure and try to get under the hood of what he was praised and vilified for while staying true to our North Star of 'no one person is one thing.'"
MIKE releases to Hulu on August 25.
