Megan Thee Stallion Blasts Label For Counter Suing Her

On Monday, Megan Thee Stallion tweeted out against her current legal disputes, including a countersuit from 1501 Certified Entertainment.

Megan Thee Stallion is suing her current label 1501 Certified Entertainment for the second time, but CEO Carl Crawford is fighting back. Although Meg asserts that her 2021 release Something for the Hotties fulfilled her contractual obligations with 1501 Certified Entertainment, the label filed a countersuit on Monday, according to TMZ.

Crawford says that Something for the Hotties is “made up of 21 recordings and includes spoken interlude recordings on which MTS does not appear as well as several previously-released recordings.” The suit also claims that the 29-minute album “was described in the music press as a compilation record of archival materials and some new recordings.” If the judge declares that Meg's project is uncounted towards her deal, she owes 1501 Certified Entertainment two more albums.

Signed off on by Steven ZagerLohr Beck, and Lauren Newman of King & Spalding LLP, the label claimed that they  “only learned of the release hours before it came out,” and that Meg's second “lawsuit is groundless because, as she knows, Something for The Hotties does not meet the requirements of an ‘album’ under the three contracts that she has signed with 1501.”

Meg's attorney Brad Hancock spoke with Complex about 1501 Certified Entertainment pursuing the rapper.

“This is yet another absurd attempt by 1501 to disregard Megan’s album and squeeze more money and more free work out of her for as long as possible. We will ask the court to protect Megan from this type of abuse.”

It's safe to say that Meg was displeased with news of the countersuit. On Monday, she immediately went to Twitter to speak her piece.

Meg went on to allege that Crawford is a "powder head" who's "hiding behind" fellow music executive J. Prince.

Some following Meg's thread also brought up her Roc Nation deal, which she responded to.

Meg then closed out her tweets, saying that she wasn't “speaking to nobody else on here ..see y’all in court.”

But Crawford decided not to let Meg have the last word. The 1501 Certified Entertainment CEO posted on his Instagram with a screenshot of a breaking TMZ story about the case.

In his Instagram Stories,  Crawford mentioned that “The truth will be out soon enough,” and alleged a forthcoming “defamation claim” .

“This all Coming from a Bonifide Alcoholic who fucked the whole industry including her best friend nigga,” Crawford added in a third Instagram Story.

Crawford wasn't the only person that Meg went after on Twitter. A Twitter user questioned if Meg was actually shot by Lanez in July 2020, to which Meg brought up her hospital records. Fans also backed her up, tweeting pictures of a visible post-incident wound on her foot.

Hours after Meg's tweet, Tory seemingly responded, although he didn't mention Meg by name.

In February, Meg called out DJ Akademiks for spreading a "false narratives" about the July 2020 shooting. The allegation went viral enough for Megan to see it and the court case resumed shortly thereafter with a pre-trial hearing.

In the same month, Meg also filed a second lawsuit towards 1501 Certified Entertainment with lawyers saying that “1501 wants to tie [Megan Thee Stallion] down to release more albums under the Contract to the financial benefit of 1501.”
