One of the best films this year could have had a different lead.

Sorry to Bother You could have starred either Donald Glover or Jordan Peeleaccording to the movie's writer and director Boots Riley.According to Vulture, at the Directors Guild Theater on Sunday (October 7th), the director told writer Doreen St. Felix that Peele wanted to the play the lead, Cassius "Cash" Green. "Then he directedGet Out and was like 'I don't want to act anymore.'"

Next on the list was Glover who already had multiple projects set up:

The next person was Donald Glover, and he said, 'But I might get this job in Star Wars, and maybe you can wait until after that and after Atlanta season 2.' I was like, 'We don't know what's going to happen to the money by then.'

Minutes later he received a call from Lakeith Stanfield's manager asking for a meeting. Stanfield proved to be the perfect Cassius Green; Sorry to Bother You is one of the year's best films.

Sorry to Bother You will be released on digital outlets (iTunes, Amazon Prime Video etc.) this Tuesday (October 9th.)
