Dam-Funk - "I Don't Wanna Be A Star" (single artwork)

Yup. Dam-Funk is not only dropping a new 12″–A-side: “I Don’t Wanna Be A Star,” B-side: a cover of Prince‘s ”17 Days”–he has also teamed up with the mad scientists at Bleep Labs (that is apparently a real place in Texas) to produce the Dam-Drum, an extremely limited edition (100 pieces) signature 4-button drum machine based on unique sounds selected by big chief funksh*t himself. It appears that the gadget, which was announced yesterday and went on sale today, has sold out more or less instantly. But maybe if you gearheads crash their website enough times they’ll make a few more–or if not I’m sure at least 1 will be available on ebay for US$1Million dollars fairly soon. Stream “17 Days” below and find a demo and more pics of the Dam-Drum after the jump. You can also get snippets of the A-side “I Don’t Wanna Be A Star” and 2 more new tracks (“Fadin” and “New Knock”) when you go to purchase the 12″ at the Stones Throw store.
