At long last, Janet Jackson has announced plans to return to the spotlight with new music and a new world tour, according to a video posted via her personal twitter account made late Friday night. The clip came accompanied by the tag #ConversationsInACafe. New album title?
Ms. Jackson posted a video entitled "Announcement," which shows a computer program relaying her own voice. "I promised you'd hear it from my lips, and now you will. This year--new music, new world tour, a new movement. I've been listening. Let's keep the conversation going," we hear over the low din of an off-screen crowd carrying on, yes, conversation. There's also an undeniably funky hip-hop beat playing in the background. Could Janet be taking a turn back toward The Velvet Rope sound?
Hours before the video announcement dropped, Jackson's longtime collaborator Jimmy Jamtweeted a semi-cryptic message which also included the message #ConversationInACafe. Watch the video announcement below and be prepared for much more Janet news to splash R&B radars soon.
