For those who claim the freestyle rap session is losing its place in hip-hop, Eminem has just readjusted all the dials. The MC took to the mic yesterday on Sway Calloway's"Sway in the Morning" radio program, foregoing all beats and firing nothing but a cappella bars for well over six minutes. As he raps line after line (after line after line), exhibiting plenty of that signature Eminem irreverence, it seems no one is safe from his rhythmic bullseye. Pop culture heroes and pariahs--none were spared over the course of the mega-verse, but when you consider just how long six minutes really is, it seems only natural that Em would need to reach far and wide for source material.
"I'm a regular Hyde and Jekyll / White with freckles but I silence hecklers" Em asserts after just the first minute. As things progress, Donald Trump, Bill Cosby and even Caitlyn Jenner get lambasted as Eminem renews his status as one of the most inventive and lyrically sound rappers active today. And keep in mind, it's only business for the MC. "I just say shit to say it," Eminem said after wrapping things up. "It's very rarely personal. If it was personal, somebody would know.
