Goku is Making His Thanksgiving Day Parade Debut This Year
The 92nd annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade adds a new float to the procession, and a presumed legion of Dragon Ball Z fans to the crowd.
On November 22nd, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will bend ordinances and time as it celebrates a 92nd year of complicating terminally flawed traffic patterns with 50-to-60-foot-long floats and thousands of shivering spectators. However, this year willing witnesses will notice a new face floating between overpriced office spaces and residential buildings.
According to Hypebeast, a 56-foot-long version of Dragon Ball Z‘s Goku will join the ranks of Woody Woodpecker, Mr. Potatohead, and Snoopy, at this year’s procession, where 16 floats, 1,200 cheerleaders, 1,000 clowns, and 12 marching bands are slated to appear. The saving grace of an otherwise nightmarish spectacle.
A video from Macy’s studios (see below) reveals the care to detail designers are employing in recreating the Super Saiyan Blue form of the iconic anime character. He’ll appear with the whole gang in the highly-anticipated upcoming film, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, on December 14th. An English-dubbed western release is slated for January 19th, 2019.
