Adele - "Skyfall" (trailer/lyrics video)

Yes, Adele has officially gone ‘all Hollywood’. Yesterday, the reigning Grammy Queen leaked this lyrics video for “Skyfall” the official theme song of the forthcoming James Bond film of the same name–the first time the  track has been heard in full. This is not to be confused, of course, with The Bullitts‘ “Skyfall,” which in hindsight is clearly a daring bit of guerrilla film score composition. Both are–as is only right–big, sweeping, epic, dramatic melodies–worthy of the white hot spotlight generated by the venerable Bond franchise. But, I don’t know. Call it confirmation bias but I lean a little towards the guerrilla score myself. Listen to the official below, compare with The Bullitts after the jump–and let the sky-pieces fall where they will.

Man, whatever. That Bullitts song is good and all, but Adele KILLED this. Best Bond theme I’ve heard in a long time.

The Bullits song is MUCH better. You can’t compare the two.

    I prefer the Bullits song.

the composition could possibly be better than the official song. But as far as how the song is delivered? Look, I love The Bullitts’ music, much more than Adele’s. But his voice isn’t nearly big enough, on booming enough. Maybe if Adele had sang his version. Her voice is perfect for a bond thing, and she pretty much delivered something worthy of Shirley Bassey, imo. Her song gets you hype to watch a movie and is perfect for an opening title sequence, his is way too chill for an opener.

Even if you like his version better, you can’t deny it’s probably the wrong song for a film opener.
