Watch Jay Electronica Perform "Eternal Sunshine" with BADBADNOTGOOD

The reclusive rap gawd pops up at a north-of-the-border performance

This past weekend, BADBADNOTGOOD hit the stage as part of Red Bull Sound Select’s 3 Days in Toronto installation at Massey Hall.

And while fans came for the for the soulful jazz fodder of your favorite artist’s go-to studio crew (along with River Tiber and Charlotte Dos Santos) they were treated to an increasingly rare appearance from Jay Electronica, who joined the Canadian band for part of their set, performing his iconic “Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge)” live and direct with a string section in tow. The sighting arrives in the wake of a slightly more polished version of his MF DOOM collaboration “True Lightyears” as part of the rapper’s now cancelled and erased, The Missing Notebook Rhymes campaign, but ahead of a forthcoming feature on Talib Kweli‘s soon-to-land eighth studio album, Radio Silence, alongside a stellar supporting cast that includes contributions from Anderson .Paak, Kaytranada, Alchemist, Bilal, Robert Glasper and more.
