Russell made history for Nipsey.

It was a historic night for NBA superstar Russell Westbrook. On April 2nd, the Oklahoma City Thunder rolled up to the Staples Center to play the Los Angeles Lakers.

Westbrook went for an insane 20 points, 20 rebounds, 21 assists game in a 119 – 103 win against a Lakers team who wasn’t playing LeBron James (he got shut down for the season.) The NBA superstar dedicated the achievement to friend Nipsey Hussle, who was killed on Sunday night (March 31st.)

When Westbrook nabbed his 20th rebound, Westbrook yelled out “that’s for Nipsey:”

It’s a historic stat line for Westbrook. The only other NBA player to get 20-20-20 in a game was Wilt Chamberlain in 1968, when he got 22 points, 25 rebounds, and 21 assists, according to ESPN.

After the historic game, Westbrook was interviewed by TNT, where he talked about the 20-20-20 achievement:

“That wasn’t for me. That was for my bro. That was for Nipsey. 20 plus 20 plus 20. They know what that means.”

That “they know what that means” might be a reference to the fact that Nipsey was a member of the Rollin ’60s Crips.

It seemed like this was a very purposeful move for Westbrook, who was born in Long Beach, California and who went to school at UCLA.

The NBA star was seen wearing a Crenshaw shirt before and after the game. He was also seen rapping along to “Grindin’ All My Life.”
