Still from Wax Tailor's animated video for "Time To Go" f/ Aloe Blacc

Can’t say I know much about French artist Wax Tailor but based on this darkly funky Aloe Blacc collaboration ”Time  To Go” I am down to investigate. The brilliant video illustrates the existentialist soul of the lyric through the mystical back-alley journey of a blue, four-armed sock-puppet cephalopod. Following our hero (technically, a quadropus, I guess?) as he is born, makes things dance and turn blue and then returns to the dumpster from whence he came, the weird mix of rhythm & blues, graffiti and craft-fair animation plays like a Michel Gondry film in miniature. It’s all very mysterious, which means I’m just going to have to listen to a whole lot more Wax Tailor until I figure out exactly what’s going on. Watch below and conduct your own investigation by copping Wax Tailor’s new LP Dusty Rainbow From The Dark on iTunes now.

Hey man, Wax Tailor is big here actually, in France, he plays big dates and is quite popular. This dude is talented you should check his older albums. It gravitates between positive hip hop and trip hop for the most. I don’t go crazy for the guy’s music generally but i gotta admit he’s pretty talented and some tracks are impressive (que sera, positively inclined, our dance). Peace

Wax Tailor is phenomenal. Missed his show in Seattle and pretty much cried about it.
