Scratch resurfaces to prep fans for the release of his forthcoming mixtape #TUFFACT2FOLLOW. The Roots veteran, vocal DJ and human beatbox drops a video promo full of heat courtesy of a crazy cover of Kanye West‘s “Clique” that finds Scratch handling all of the parts on the original track with a mic and a few effects pedals. Layering his own vocals, he rebuilds multi-track recordings in real time with nothing more than his voice. A real live one-man band, Scratch has packed his forthcoming mixtape with beatbox reworks of familiar hip-hop tracks. No word yet on a release date or whether the mixtape will include any original joints, but the project is reportedly slated to drop some time in the coming months. It will be interesting to see whether Scratch brings any MCs along for the ride or spits over the beats, himself. Check the promo and behind-the-scenes footage below for a taste of what’s to come on Scratch’s forthcoming mixtape #TUFFACT2FOLLOW. Stay tuned for more.
