Missy Elliott's Debut Album 'Supa Dupa Fly' Receives First-Ever Vinyl Reissue
You may not have been able to tell by her true-to-form Super Bowl halftime performance, but Missy Elliott‘s been mostly quiet for the last few years. Sure there have been a few exceptional singles (and equally-eye-grabbing videos to support) but for the large part of the last decade or so, Elliott’s been off the map (unless called upon by FLOTUS to belt out the hits in a car doing laps round The White House.)
And so, as we await a new project from the pioneering rapper and producer, the downtime does provide the perfect opportunity for us to recall the brilliance of her catalog. This year, Missy Elliott’s debut album, Supa Dupa Fly, hits the 20th anniversary mark, and what better way to celebrate than the first-ever vinyl reissue of the platinum introduction? According to Modern Vinyl, that’s just what we’ll get this summer, as a reissue is slated for release on July 14th. Pre-orders are underway now via OKP Shop.
Packaging details have yet to be revealed (though we’re hoping it’s just a black trash bag draped over the gatefold,) but you can watch the iconic video for “Rain” below to hold you over (and remind you that Missy Misdemeanor is one of the realest visionaries that ever was.)
