Our first introduction to UK singer LeaLea Jones was a dubby collaboration with reggae legend Horace Andy (via the record-breaking selectors of LargeUp) but who knew what depths she had in store? This track "AK47" kind of has it all: a big confident soul vocal, a knocking clappers electro beat and an agitpop edge worthy of M.I.A.. It also has guns, drugs & money--all tied together with a sumptuously-photographed black and white and (to my eye) very Andres Serrano-inspired video.
