Coachella Could Potentially Be Rescheduled to 2021 Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

A new report expresses Coachella organizers have asked artists confirmed for this year to perform in 2021.

Coachella could be happening in 2021 rather than later this year. The festival was originally set to take place back in April and due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was pushed to October.

Goldenvoice previously shared ticket holders would have still been honored for the October dates that were rolled out. Stagecoach, a country music festival also produced by Goldenvoice was pushed to October. The Coachella dates were slated for October 9 to 11 and October 16 to 18.

Now a Bloomberg report has unveiled that Goldenvoice has been asking artists confirmed for this year to play in 2021. This could mean the October dates have been scrapped altogether. Additionally, numerous sources are saying the company is figuring out plans with artists and insurance. 2020 headliners included Frank Ocean, Travis Scott and Rage Against The Machine

Select artists who were confirmed for this year have reportedly agreed to perform next year. Others haven’t confirmed due to “health and financial reasons.” Bloomberg reports not all artists have been asked to be a part of Coachella 2021.

Coachella which is the largest music festival in the U.S. rakes in $100 million for Goldenvoice and its parent company AEG. The halt of the event is a massive loss for both companies in addition to artists. This is a major example of how the coronavirus pandemic has altered the music industry especially since the U.S. has the largest number of cases in the world. Live Nation Entertainment, the world’s largest concert promoter has reportedly claimed festivals may return in the summer of 2021.
