Cardi B Responds After Candace Owens Calls Her an "Illiterate Rapper"

The public feud between Cardi B and Owens initially started on Sunday on Twitter.

Cardi B and Candace Owens's social media beef began on Sunday on Twitter where many spats between public figures messily surface.

It all began when Owens, a conservative political commentator tweeted a clip of herself on The Ben Shapiro Show. During the video, she shared her thoughts on Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders pandering to Black Americans each time they are interviewed by Cardi B. Owens also said she believes the rapper is “illiterate” and even implied Biden isn’t familiar with her music.

When speaking on the interviews between Cardi B and the political figures, Owens added:

"It is demeaning. It is pandering. It is ridiculous. She had no idea what she was doing, yet both Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden made the time to speak with her because they believe Black people are stupid... There are way more intellectual Black Democrats you could've sat down with, yet you chose an illiterate rapper because that's what she is."

Later on Sunday, Cardi B shared a response. On Twitter she wrote, “Yes you are right I have the number 1 song & I have a huge platform and I can make millions go vote to get the MAN THAT USED YOU. I don't want to argue with you Candace I really don't have the time. I honestly just feel sorry for you.”

She also shared the following when Candace brought up Biden's role in the passing of the 1994 Crime Bill, a point that has come up quite a few times since he declared his run for the White House:

"And you are encouraging millions to vote for a man who laugh Everytime a black men gets killed by a cop and tell millions of Americans to drink bleach. Trump didn't even have you talking at the Republican convention. He thinks you're dumb. MASA did you dirty but you mad at me?"

Following a fan’s response to the back and forth, Cardi also added her thoughts on Owens not appearing during this year's Republican National Convention. “Right they use her ass and they don’t even have the decency to put her in the Republican convention. She have a huge platform have Trump  sat with her?gave her a interview? That’s the least he could do ?”

After the claims made about the RNC, Owens claimed she turned down an appearance. She then stated on Twitter that asking "racist Joe Biden to lower your taxes in the same breath that you asked for free universal healthcare is about as thick as it gets." She also wrote, "When you stick to music, you can get left alone. When you dabble in politics, you will get called out for platforming ignorance."

Cardi responded by clarifying that she wanted her taxes to go towards causes like education. "Well paying taxes is something that as much as I hate it's a reality. I will always have to pay ...but I rather my tax money go to free education then police funding ....Use my money on something USEFUL. Your president use our tax money to fund his empty campaign runs."

This wasn't the end of their public dispute, the pair then took their thoughts and opinions over to Instagram Live on Sunday.

"Why wouldn't Joe Biden sit down with me?" Cardi said. "I have millions of followers and I pay millions in taxes … I'm heard all around the word. The same way I get people to pop their p***y and have a good time and make them feel like a bad b**ch -- I can also encourage millions of followers to go vote."

That same day, Cardi continued firing back at Candace. On Twitter, she shared that the commentator's husband was spotted listening to "WAP" at a recent boat party. The caption read: I seriously don't even know how me and Candice started arguing. Just a couple of weeks ago her man was playing Wap in his Trump boat party!? I hate arguing [with] people. Since I got new followers here STREAM WAP."

As if the public feud between the two couldn't get weirder, Candace thought she came out on top. On Twitter she shared, "She is still tweeting about me. I broke @iamcardib." She wrote this and paired it with a photo of her dunking on Cardi. Owens also tweeted: "To those asking -- no, I was not invited to speak at Cardi B's funeral."

We're guessing Cardi decided to keep her final thoughts on Owens to herself. Regardless, it's clear she had time to put her Twitter fingers to use, even over the long weekend.
