History could be in the making.
The 2019list of nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has finally arrived,
Janet Jackson, LL Cool J, and Rufus & Chaka Khan are among this year’s nominees.
More first-time nominees include Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, the Cure, Kraftwerk, MC5, the Zombies Devo, Roxy Music, Todd Rundgren, John Prine, and Def Leppard.
OutKast, the Roots, Snoop Dogg, and Dave Matthews Band were among the artists in their first year of contention (meaning their first commercial records were released in 1993) and were not eligible for nomination.
Fans can vote for their favorite nominees to win at the Rock Hall’s website before the inductees are revealed in December.

The 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees included Nina Simone, Bon Jovi, the Cars, the Moody Blues, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. The Roots and Lauryn Hill paid tribute to Simone, while Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard paid tribute to Tharpe.
The nomination falls on the 21-year anniversary of Jackson’s sixth studio album, The Velvet Rope.
Congrats, Ms. Jackson.
