It Looks Like Freddie Gibbs & Madlib’s ‘Bandana’ is Dropping Soon

We came bandana’d up, divide it up, now what’s the quotient?

Last week, producer Madlib posted a mysterious photo on his Instagram. The post features Lord Quas on the phone.

The caption was simple: “we are clearing samples …”

Clearing samples…for what? Most read the post as a hint that Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s Bandana album, the follow up to the street classic Piñata, is on the way.

Now, a couple of days later, there is further confirmation that the album is on its way. On Tuesday, February 12th, Freddie Gibbs posted an Instagram Story with Madlib where he confirmed that the “Album is done.” He then posted another story where he said he might “put some shit out.”

This isn’t the first time Gibbs said the album is done. In an interview with Rap Radar, Gibbs revealed that the album was complete. Maybe they did some tinkering? Or maybe the album has been completed and they’ve been clearing samples all of this time?
