The exhibit will be officially open on December 17th. A post made to the event's Facebook page reads:

"Join us for a VIP Reception with DJ Peanut Butter Wolf on December 15. A first-ever exhibit of Keith Haring originals, exclusively at the Petersen.

Unconventional Canvases brings together five vehicles painted, or drawn on, by Pop Artist Keith Haring (1958-1990). Haring’s brief and prolific career from 1982-1990 documented the spirit of New York City’s underground art scene through icons and images that evoked the challenges of late Twentieth Century society. His trademark style was popularized in spontaneous chalk drawings throughout the New York City subway stations. The simple and assured lines were meant to translate art in a manner that all viewers could experience and consume.

The automobiles are accompanied by diverse examples of Haring’s two- and three-dimensional works. Each piece was likewise created in the same fashion as the automobiles, fusing unconventional surfaces with meaningful icons that reflected specific people, sites, or Haring’s own philosophies about politics, society and art."
