Steeped in romantic drama, Rainy Milo's newest video is something lovely to behold. Bookended by shots of a spinning roulette table, the new clip for her single "This Thing Of Ours" is the story of a couple caught up in a good thing.
But a strange unease lingers at the edge of every scene. "This Thing Of Ours" is a song about the stress of loving someone who makes their money on the wrong side of the law--it's a warning that material things ("sales and film reels, dark liquor and long nails") can't hold someone down. The south London singer channels Erykah Badu's "The Other Side of the Game" in a very real way, homing in a kind of paranoid joy.
All told Ms. Milo's video is a feast for eyes and ears.
