Ma Dukes Will Narrate J Dilla Children's Book 'The Life Story Of James Dewitt Yancey'
On November 22nd, The J Dilla Foundation will release a children’s book on the legacy and come-up of the prolific and adored producer. His mother, Ma Dukes, will narrate the audio version of it. Taking to Hot 97 earlier this week, Ma Dukes, made the announcement of the biography, geared towards younger audiences as an effort to build new generations of J Dilla fans by telling the story of a young talent with big dreams and a hunger for uncharted sonic ground.
She also spoke on Dilla’s bed-ridden years and how ferociously productive he remained to the moment of his death, touching on her relationships with Stones Throw and other instrumental figures in Dilla’s career. So if you’ve worried about just how to express the impact of Dilla’s work and story to your kids, lay them to rest. Ma Dukes is coming through in a big way for the future of the donut-loving nation.
